...A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck along Northern California’s coast early Tuesday, causing widespread power outages in Humboldt County, home to about 136,000 people.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said damage to roads and homes was reported throughout the county and that residents should be prepared for aftershocks.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 11 miles and about 9 miles away from the small city of Ferndale, which is about 260 miles north of San Francisco, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Nearly 72,200 power customers in Humboldt County—72% of the county total—were offline early Tuesday, according to the tracking site PowerOutage.US.
