21 февраля 1945 г. В результате атаки камикадзе у побережья Иводзимы потоплен авианосец USS Bismark Sea (CVE-95). Это был последний погибший в бою авианосец в ходе ВМВ. Вместе с ним погибло 318 человек из его команды.
