4 сентября 1781 44 испанских поселенца основали Лос-Анджелес, Калифорния, США. Первоначально он назывался «El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles», что в переводе означает «поселение нашей Леди, Королевы Ангелов» L.A. — для краткости.
