19 Ноября 1919 cоздается Первая Конная армия.
Командующим армией назначен С. М. Будённый, членами Реввоенсовета - К. Е. Ворошилов и Е. А. Щаденко. Армия просуществует до 21 мая 1921 и сыграет заметную роль в сражениях гражданской войны.
