16 декабря 1971 90 000 пакистанских солдат окружённых индийской армией в Восточном Пакистане (ныне - республика Бангладеш) капитулировали.

Это была самая крупная капитуляция со времён Второй мировой войны.
На этом закончилась Война за независимость Бангладеш, а на следующий день - и Третья индо-пакистанская война.
