26 мая 1924 г. Совершил первый полет первый отечественный цельнометаллический самолет АНТ-2 конструкции А. Н. Туполева. Для создания этого самолета потребовалось наладить выпуск нового материала - кольчугалюминия. С созданием этого материала Туполев всегда связывал появление советской авиационной промышленности.
