24 июля 1944 5-й амфибийный корпус КМП США высадился. на о. Тиниан (Марианские острова).

The Battle of Tinian was a battle of the Pacific campaign of World War II, fought on the island of Tinian in the Mariana Islands from 24 July 1944 to 1 August 1944.
Strength
US: 30,000 Marines
Japan: 4,700 Soldiers + 4,110 Marines
Casualties and losses
US: 328 killed, 1,571 wounded
Japan: 8,010 killed + 313 captured

соотношения довольно типичные для операций второй половины войны
