22 августа 1485 в битве при Босворте Генрих Тюдор из Дома Ланкастеров ("Алая роза") победил короля Ричарда III из Дома Йорков ("Белая роза"). Ричард был убит. Это позволило Генриху занять английский престол под именем Генриха VII и основать королевскую династию Тюдоров. Так завершилась династическая Война Алой и Белой Розы, длившаяся с 1455г.
