1 января 1962 г. В США основаны части "морских котиков". (Navy SEAL), спецназ Военно-морских сил США (ВМС США), предназначенный для проведения разведывательных и диверсионных операций с моря. Основой для их формирования послужили водолазные команды подрывников (Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs)), сфломированные еще в ходе ВМВ и принимавшие участие в корейской войне.
