видимо, битва была всё же не совсем решающей, а положение - не совсем безвыходным.
Не обязательно - главное, что Франция подписалась под уходом из Португалии, и Англии не понадобилось воевать еще и там.
За это могли и остатки войск перевезти, и оружие со знаменами оставить.
